Gunblade Retreaval

Figuring he's try playing at her with her own game, he gave a sly smile and responded, clearly and briskly.

"Replace the village in your story as I understand it with a group of wandering travellers, copy down the rest of the points, and you get the bare bones of my own past."

I truely doubt that.

*she scoffed. It was hard to believe; two people with the identical pasts? That sounded ridiculous*

Actually I really doubt that.

*leaning back, Alyss crossed her arms, a smug grin. Despite her respect for Skye, she doubted the man had more or less gone through the same situations that she did. There was no way their memories were the same, just like she didn't believe there was such a thing as an absolute destiny*

But why would he lie to me?

*there was such as thing as coincidence, but what were the chances?*

"I only said bare bones; you haven't even told me the fine details of yours, just as I haven't told you mine." He paused, resting his head on his hand. "Fine details in the end, define who we all develop into.."

I....suppose..

*she hesitated and then her grin fell out of place, a sullen look. That was right. Maybe...he heard of him. She took a minute, wondering Skye's reaction, turning on her headphones to distract her, then turning them off, then turning them on again, fingering the loose fabric on the arm of the couch. Alyss finally spoke, slowly and carefully, choosing her words*

Skye...I want to tell you a small story of my past. If you recognize anything, just...speak up.

*she took a breath and began*

There's a village, far from here...

As Alyss bagan speaking, the door to the workroom burst open with an ecstatic Sedgar. "Finished in record time!" He held the gunblade high above his head, trying to strike a cool pose but in the end looking quite foolish. Afterwards he briskly walked over to the couch where Skye was sitting and handed him the gunblade. "Try it out~"

Ironically, Skye was more annoyed than relieved now to see that the Gunblade was complete early. Here alyss was opening up to him finally, and Vyland had to enter at that very moment. Obviously displeased, he snatched the blade from Sedgar's hands and fired a full round at an empty wall. The shots fired perfectly.

"Thanks, i'll be seeing you later then." He strided back out the door, sending Alyss a note written in yellow neon-ish light behind Sedgar. Of course it was an illusion, but the message was the same.

"We'll talk later, I'm sure." After she had read it, the note dissipated befroe Sedgar himself had a chance to notice it.

*her eyes caught the message quickly and she looked back up a Sedgar, expression silent. She was rethinking telling Skye about herself, but it was too late now. She might as well have gone through with it*

It wasn't as bad as you said it was.

*Alyss muttered to Sedgar, looking away from his face*

I thought you needed five hours...and that seemed a little.....much.

He laughed a bit, putting his hand behind his head. "Well, I was working really hard on getting that blade fixed, and probably overworked myself in the long run.. but at least Skye's out of your hair for now, eh?" He smiled at her, still proud of his speedy work.

"And.. what did you mean by a little... much?"

Just the timing.....

*she grumbled, just a bit. It wasn't as bad as she thought it was though, entertaining Skye. In fact she wanted to know a little more about him. It took her a while, but she finally mustered enough courage*

Do you happen to know Skye's history? Anything about him?

"Well, I know a bit of background info, but nothing on the man himself.." He paced a bit, gathering information that he'd gathered. What were his sources anyway?

"The only shred I really can say about Skye is that he's the last known member of the Silverclaw line to anyone's knowledge. By that I assume they were once prestegious or something, but I can't find anything else on his family line other than they're 'endangered.' ..Does that help at all?"

Not really, I wouldn't say so. But thanks..

*she slid her headphones into place and turned the music on softly, crossing her legs and leaned into the couch*

What about you Sedgar? Do you have any family?

"Ah, my family.." He took a seat beside her, closing his eyes and remembering the past.. "Yeah, I had some family. And then some more family on top of that. My lineage is.. odd, you could say. How about yours?" Now that the topic had come up, Sedgar had never heard of a Frey lineage, and now he was actively curious..

The Freys come from the kingdom of Meskia originally, but they moved to a village furthur east. Currently it's called, maybe you've heard of it, Ellion.

*twirling the threads around her index finger she stared blankly else where. She didn't care if he asked questions, but she wasn't going to elaborate on much at all*

A small spark of memory flared in his mind, but he let it go for a bit. He could've sworn he heard of something like ellion before... "I see.. do you still have any family.. or friends?"

No, I have no more family in Ellion...perhaps someone back in Meskia, but...

*she stifled her sentence immediately. She meant to say "Yes! Yes I have one friend..", but that would have been a lie. Alyss gave a slow sigh and spoke, a small whisper to his ears*

I had one friend.

Oblivious to her obvious emotion in confessing this, Sedgar slightly lit up. "Ah, really? Who was it?" He gave a ':3' face to her.

No one really.

*her throat swelled a bit at those words, cursing herself*

His name was Haseo.

*Alyss closed her eyes for that name she didn't speak of for a long while now. It sounded nostalgic in her ears, yet it wasn't the same, not at all. Not said in the same way. She briefly met his eyes, but looked away again, expression guilty*

"Haseo, huh.." Another familiar name, but he again decided to let it go. Ill memories were best left untouched, afterall. Perhaps he'd ask later, at a better time for both of them. He rose from the couch suddenly. "You haven't eaten today have you. I'll go grab something." He began walking towards another 'random' wing of his lab.

*at the moment her eyes widened, shouting out louder than he had ever heard her speak*

Wait! Wait just a minute!

*Alyss sat up onto the couch andshe grabbed his sleeve, then his wrist, stopping him moving furthur. Her voice came out strained, blue eyes locked upon his face*

Please, hold on just one second..

Stopping in his tracks as she shouted, feeling her hand on his wrist, Sedgar turned around. He kept her hand there on his wrist, and sat back down on the couch. "What is it, Alyss.." Honestly, what could've possibly compelled her to burst out like this? He couldn't understand..

You look like...someone I know.

*her hands turned his face unexpectedly in her hands, turning his chin left, right, then left, observing her set eyes. Alyss removed his glasses, her fingers began to tremble unwillingly. For a minute her heart swooned as she ran her fingers through his hair, sweeping it backwards and allowing it to fall; imagining it the color of brilliant twilight...*

Too much like him, too much.

And what was your lineage again?

Reactionless in his expression, Sedgar finally understood. All he needed now was one question, and his suspicions would be confirmed...

"Alyss.. what was Haseo's ... Family name."

*for a second she didn't hear what he said. Too busy with examining who exactly he was, she lost his words, then heard them once again. Her bangs clouded her eyes, then she looked up at him shyly*

Talbain. Haseo Talbain from Village Ellio-- no. From Village Altea.

"Just as I thought." He took back his glasses calmly, putting them back on his face. He leaned in to her, hands now on her cheeks, bringing their faces closer. He then redirected his lips to her forehead, kissing them ever-so lightly, then parted back.

"There's more to this than you think. I'm sorry, I understand your feelings, but I'm afraid I cannot commit to this.."

He can't...

*whispering softly she stared at him for a while, then aburptly shook her head and her lips trembled. Deep blue eyes, growing darker every second..then they turned angry, hostile and confused. Her lips curved into a broad frown*

What do you mean there's more than this than I think!? You're hiding something from me, something I don't know, or else you wouldn't do this just..

*she breathed space, taking in oxygen, cutting herself off mid-sentence. One of the machine began to send out a loud beep, a signal that pierced their ears for a brief moment before dying; the machines in the workroom cried shouts as well. A bang, a pop of a fuse and then silence*

But you're the closest thing. And I truely do think I'm...

*Alyss brushed her fingers against his hands that held her face, her cheeks a flushed red*
