you have to think of it not as Jack being normal and Sephy being a god hack, but as Jack being a normal person in a WORLD of normal people and Sephy being a god hack in a WORLD of god hacks

"normal" in sephiroths world is people flying, cutting through buildings, controlling the elements, fighting some bastards summons, and getting phoenixe downs used on you

in Jacks world, it's riding on a boat, looking for treasure, gun fights, outsmarting people, getting eaten by krakens, and cheating death

in the end, both of the things they survived would practically be equivalent, so you cant make your judgement based on what they survived and accomplished, but rather based on their capabilities in a fight, not the fact that jack outsmarted all those "normal people" and the fact that sephy "fooled a whole planet"

it comes down to a fight and nothing more, battle experience and battle smarts are the only deciding factors in this argument
